My Nightly Routine
Share
My nightly routine consists of brushing my teeth, flossing, and sitting down in my spot to do my daily accounting tasks. Yes, I track my expenses and count the cash in my wallet, then adjust my “cash on hand” block in the "You Can Win" budgeting system for the changes. I then check my bank account and make my budget reflect the current amount in my operating account (aka my bank account), which typically never changes unless there’s a monthly fixed expense that’s been taken out that day, like insurance or a phone bill. 90% of my transactions are made in cash.
Now, I wasn’t always like this, but over the last decade, I’ve grown my "do right with your money" muscle. All I want to express is the importance and easiness that come with looking at my money early and often—aka every night before bed. This level of organization has brought me much peace. I once heard someone say I over-examine my financial situation so I don’t need to worry about money, and I put that idea into my tool belt. It has brought me much joy and financial success.
